This heavy duty piece of equipment is the folding knife's answer to the traditional KA-BAR fixed blade. Sturdy construction and pure heft ensure this knife will withstand any test you dare put it through. The clip blade is a classic shape and very practical. Its name describes a shape that seems to have a portion of the spine of the blade clipped off. This brings the blade point lower for extra control and enhances the sharpness of the tip. It provides ample "belly" in the blade for slicing or skinning and a good tip for inserting in and under things that need to be cut. You will often find a false edge with the clip point. The Spyderco Native 5 lightweight comes with a matte finish and features a blade that has a combination edge. The blade begins with a plain edge and half way down changes to a serrated or SpyderEdge. The blade is full flat ground from CPM S35VN and has a refined back-lock mechanism for positive locking of the blade regardless of the activity. The Native 5 has an improved clip that can be moved to one of four positions making this knife truly ambedextrous.
The blade steel is VG-10 and fully serrated with a sheepfoot tip. It too has a larger hole with texturing behind it and the FRN volcano grip textured handle also comes in indigo blue, black and safety orange. It also now features the David Boye dent for added security. The metal pocket clip is ambidextrous and carries tip up.

It is simply an incredible value in an all-stainless steel folder.
Columbia has made the M 16Z with contoured handles long enough for real work tasks.
